Kane and the Gang

Like all dogs, Kane is essentially a pack animal. Primarily, his pack consists of both Michele and myself. However he has a number of other dogs he plays and runs with in the local park who we're sure he regards as his friends. This page will tell you a little about them and has some pictures of some of them as well. Please be a little patient - there are quite a few pictures so the page will take a short while to download!

There's also some video footage of Kane - click here if you'd like to see it.

The first two dogs Kane met after we adopted him were Glenn and Pottie, whose pictures are below:

Glenn - who is shown on the left - is a Scottish Bearded Collie and lives with Pottie who's a border collie as Kane is. At the time we met them, they were both about twelve years old. Sadly Pottie died in late 2003, a grand old lady, then Glenn early in 2004.

This is Kane with Yasmin, who as Pottie has now gone is the only other border collie he sees regularly. She's four years old and she's an absolute livewire! She must be about the most lively dog I've ever met and I think that it's as much as Kane, who's now 14, can do just to trot along in her wake!

Kane met Maisie when she was a small puppy just after we adopted him. She's fully grown now and is probably Kane's closest friend. Occasionally we look after her for her owners, which is about the only time when Kane does not spend much of his day sleeping ! The pair of them are shown below

Most of Kane's friends are labradors. Here's Maisie again, with Kira behind her. Kira's a lab-cross and as she has her own page here, I don't need to write too much about her.

Here's another shot of Kira, wrestling with Igor, who's a chocolate male Labrador. His family have just moved into the area, but he doesn't seem to have had any problem settling in.

Igor's pretty large by labrador standards, but as usual with the breed he's also very friendly. Here you can see him playfully welcoming Brandy, a golden retriever who's just moved into the area, to our park! It may not look like it, but the two are actually the best of pals - and pretty evenly matched in the wrestling department...

Igor's not the only chocolate lab Kane hangs around with. Wispa is another of Kane's pals and he's another dog who stayed with us for a little while. The next picture shows the two of them discussing the finer points of disembowelling a teddy-bear !

The picture I'd really like to get would show all our dogs together - though getting them all in one place at the same time could be a bit of a problem! Peter's come closest with this shot of Wispa,Igor and Brandy. The two labs are waiting for the ball to land, but Brandy - who doesn't really go in for this strenuous stuff, is far more interested in Wispa!
